The Association also maintains awards and historical records related to achievement in the breed.

As the national parent club, CSSA promotes the Shetland Sheepdog in accordance with the CKC breed standard and supports informed, ethical participation in the breed. The Association’s Code of Ethics sets expectations for members in the areas of honesty, sportsmanship, cooperation, dog care, breeding responsibility, recordkeeping, placement, and advertising. Members are expected to follow CSSA by-laws, board policies, and applicable CKC rules and regulations.

CSSA members include individuals across Canada who are involved in the breed through conformation, performance events, breeding, ownership, and club service.
